A soggy yard isn't just an eyesore. Standing water after rain can damage your foundation, drown your grass, and turn your backyard into a muddy mess every time the sky opens up. This Lakeville yard had that exact problem - and we fixed it with a properly installed French drain.

The key word there is properly. A French drain only works if the grading is right. That's why we use a laser level on every job. It gives us precise elevation readings across the entire trench line so the water has a clear, consistent path to move where it needs to go. No guessing. No eyeballing. Just accurate grading from start to finish.

We ran the trench along the fence line using a CAT mini excavator - tight enough to work in a residential backyard without tearing everything up. The filter fabric, perforated pipe, and drain outlet are all staged and ready to go in before backfill. Every component plays a role in keeping the system clean and flowing for years down the road.

Doing it right the first time matters. A French drain that isn't graded correctly, or that uses cheap materials, won't protect your yard - it'll just move the problem somewhere else. We've seen plenty of those. What we put in here is built to handle real Minnesota rain and stay functional long-term.
